Yikes! I'm even more confused about my picks after seeing the show. By the way, I can't believe that no one else has expressed sadness/anger/frustration about the fact that the group numbers are being lip-synced. That was always when people were at their coolest or their most horrible. And I loved every second of it.
Matty, I was making the same argument this evening while watching....this group lipsynching sucks!
Is it just me or is it just that Adam is dressed like a gay incredible hulk in that photo?
Poor Jasmine- you knew the judges weren't going to use their ONE save for the first show. She should have stayed on... says me, who had her in the top five!
whoever put megan as their number one, i heart you. seriously - i wanted to do that sooo badly. and where was the latino love last night? i mean yeah, we knew jorge wasn't that great, but he's got an entire island that should have voted for him to at least #9 (where i had him). so tragic. oh, and i hate adam lambert with a burning passion. someone should cut his tongue off.
Shira and I also think the lip-synced group songs (brought to you, I think, by the same music director "genius" that tries to insist that superstars lip-sync during the Super Bowl half-time show etc.) are a total waste of time --and we'd rather watch a Ford commercial, or go get a snack. (Our DVR's fast-forward button gets a work-out, provided we start watching late enough...) Admittedly, the group songs also typically sucked when they sang live, but at least they were fun to laugh at then --and you gained some additional info. as to which singers sucked the hardest.
Let's hold on to Adam Lambert just long enough for him to shine on Hair Band Night, hosted by Dee Snyder, or something of the sort... Then open a trap door on the stage, and feed him to some white lions --or Siegfried & Roy :) As for Jasmine, I lament her early departure mostly because I had her at #6 (with Megan at #13); but her farewell performance was hard to listen to, so I won't miss her too much. Still, this new "save" rule just makes these departures all the more painful for everyone; no more, "You did great, honey...", instead replaced by, "No, we agree with America that you should go home, Loser."
Anyone else think that having Kanye West sing a synthesized song was way out of place? He is a good entertainer and all but the vocals were not strong....considering it is a show about singing!
Kanye West? He drove me out of the living room to do some chores, though his poor AI performance was at least better than his recent SNL appearance I happened to catch. Maybe AI's music director would allow the group songs to be sung live if they were all run through ProTools AutoTune ("Cher effect"), like Kanye did? Now Kanye just needs to add a rhythm quantizer to his vocals...

Forget Jasmine's stylist...how about Kelly Clarkson's stylist??! Kelly looked horrible (hair and makeup) and her outfit did her no favors! I did enjoy her song, though.
OK...I have to agree about Kelly Clarkson's outfit...OH MY GAWD...get a stylist! She looked HORRIBLE, but is just about the best singer ever!

I think Megan Corkery is awesome...I love that gravely sound and her quirky voice...some of you need to become a little more diverse in your opinions...I think she rocks. I love her...what don't you get about her????
Brooke told me today that there's a rumor floating around that Kelly Clarkson is pregnant hence the weight gain.....however that would fly in the face of her searching the crowd last night for available men.
As for Megan, I think she has a unique sound and is very easy on the eyes, but I'm nervous that she has no range. She certainly hasn't shown any up to this point, and her song selection has been very poor.
This is my deal with Megan...yes, unique sound, sure. But it doesn't mean I need to like it! To my ears, all I can hear is the way she abruptly stops every phrase short, and I think her tone is too affected. I also agree that she probably doesn't have much range. And she's super painful to watch! What's with that weird shoulder wiggle thing? She's hot - I give her that - but she's awkward as hell...
For the Acoustic alums in the crowd, she also reminds me way too much of a certain emergency-room-visiting someone...

I'm hating all over Megan. When she was like, "I tried out for the school play and chorus and never got picked, wah, wah, wah." I was like, "Um... yeah... because you belong in a coffee shop singing for beatniks while some guy in a ponytail reeking of patchouli-stink plays guitar - instead of marring American Idol with your perverse little girl dancing skills." I have no idea what the judges are hearing or seeing in her case.
thank you, shelly. i put megan as my number 1. i followed my heart rather than my head on this one. i thought she was awesome last night! she may stick around a couple more weeks--hopefully!--however i don't think she has the fan base to make a long run. oh well. if she gets another crack at next week then maybe she'll do something amazing to increase her fan base. i love her voice. and i'm going to get the same tattoo as her but definitely put it on my left arm...not my right.
Oh wow... shocker tonight. She chose a really bad song though...
