Final 2009 American Idol Pool Standings!!

Ties are broken this way - if two entries are tied, the entry that has guessed the highest contestant correctly wins the tie. If both entries had the same highest correct guessed contestant, the entry with the next highest correctly guessed contestant would win the tie.

If there were ties, I listed all of the correctly guessed contestants for both entries. For example:
53. Marybeth & Lucy - 239 pts. (Allison 4th)
54. Lauren - 239 pts. (Michael 10th)
55. Amy L-P. - 239 pts. (none)

These three contestants finished with 239 points, but Marybeth wins the tiebreaker because she had Allison 4th, and that is better than the best guess Lauren and Amy Larsen Pond had. Lauren finishes 54th because she had Michael 10th, and Amy finishes 55th because she didn't guess anyone correctly.

Or check this out:
36. Denis - 250 pts. (Adam 2nd, Allison 4th, Jorge 12th)
37. Cathleen - 250 pts. (Adam 2nd, Megan 9th)
38. Kristin M. - 250 pts. (Adam 2nd, Jorge 12th)

All 3 of these guys had Adam 2nd, but Denis finishes 36th because his next best correct guess was Allison at 4th which is better than Cathleen's (Megan 9th) which is better than Kristin's (Jorge 12th).

Here are the final standings:

American Idol Final Viewer's Guide!

America is about to make a big mistake. His victory is all but a foregone conclusion, but Adam Lambert should not be the NEXT American Idol. Think about it: the genre that he is absolutely perfect for (80’s) is yesterday’s news and he is about 20 years too late to the scene. Over the past couple of months, Adam has excelled at covering other people’s songs and taking advice from music legends like Quentin Tarantino. His voice is certainly impressive and his range is Steve Perry-esque . But what about when you have to come up with your own tunes and make your own mark? How will his voice and style translate to a studio album? The amazing thing about Adam is that he can hit those insane notes live. He can actually do it. The problem is, in the studio, anyone else can too (see Sugar Ray’s single “Every Morning"). How will Adam differentiate himself on the radio where he can’t leverage his rock star costume and ridiculous range?

Yes, that’s right. I said costume. Adam Lambert is less of a person and more of a contrived rock-god character.

To prove my theory, I have reverse-engineered and deconstructed Adam and will spend the next two days of my life at work and at home living and breathing as if I am Adam. I would like to take this opportunity to ask—no–DARE you to join me. Do you have what it takes? Are YOU the next American Idol?

If you choose not to join me and your answer is no, do not read beyond this sentence.

If your answer is yes, you are my best friend and I have provided the instructions below to guide you on your journey. First, you must dress the part.
1) Ask your mother if you can borrow a pair of her combat boots (black).
2) Grab a sharpy (black) with an extra wide tip (eyeliner).
3) Ask 2005 if you can borrow a pair of her skinny jeans. Black.
4) Swing by Spencer Gifts and buy a T-Shirt (black) with the word “Rock” somewhere on it.
5) Bedazzle said T-Shirt with rhinestones, ideally fully covering the word “Rock” so it sparkles with hard-core rockness.
6) Pick up some “Just for Men” hair dye. Color: Joan Jett Black.

Now that you have dressed the part, it is equally important that you act the part. Follow these instructions very closely. For every sentence you say, start in your normal range and over the course of the sentence gradually slide up three full octaves. Once you arrive at the last word in your phalsetto, hold it for 5 seconds, open your mouth wide, wiggle your tongue back and forth, and hold your hand out in a passion pose (note: the aforementioned passion pose is the most diffucult item to pull off effectively and may take two or three dry runs in the mirror. Ideally this pose shows the typical rock fan that you are alone in this world and no-one understands you except your only friend, rock music. This pose, however, must simultaneously tell the tween crowd that you are a frog prince waiting to be kissed. Execution of the optimal mix is critical).

Once you have completed the steps above, you ARE Adam Lambert. You can do no wrong. Everything you touch is half rock, half amazing. As you bump into your boss at work on the way to the copier, be sure you say “EXCUSE YOU” in a sustained high E with and end it with a “YEAH!”. When your friend asks you to pass the ketchup, say “WOULD YOU LIKE THE RELISH TOO?” in a soft, sweet, high, controlled tone just because you can. Your charm is hypnotizing like Jerry Lewis. You’re not really sure why people like you, but they do. They just do. You are the next American Idol. You have fooled America.

ENJOY THE FINALS IDOL POOL!!!!

Hope we get something like this Wednesday night

American Idol Viewer's Guide - Final 3!

Group Song!

Thank you Idol Gods, this is the week we get to reap the sweet rewards of being a season-long Idol Fan. For those of us who have grimaced through weeks such as 'Disco' week, and cringed their way through 'Grand Ol Oprey' week, Tuesday night should be both a surprising and interesting breath of contestant fresh air. With their new found freedom in place, my expectations for great song choice is set awfully high this week.

What's less captivating to me is the fact that we're left with three white males with the loss of the young (the judges never failed to remind us that she's 'only 16') and talented Allison last week. Could the terrible outfits and bad haircut and color finally have caught up with her? Though, in fairness, I'm not sure that Adam can be given much more credit in the fashion department and somehow he remains untouchable this season. In fact, his color is (apparently) so interesting to America, that there are instructions on how to achieve his locks of glory here.

Fashion aside, this is the week when contestants can show their true colors and just how clever they are understanding demographics and personal image branding. Let us all pray that Adam, Danny and Kris are spending all their time googling voting break-downs by contestant and dreaming up a song that will thrill the pants off voters and judges alike. Speaking of judges, I would be remiss if I didn't mention the eternal "is she or isn't she on drugs" debate surrounding (once again) our girl, Paula. Here's the article where she claims to have been addicted to painkillers. And here's the article where she claims the magazine got it all wrong.

One thing I know that makes her statement a whole lot less credible is her comment that she 'has never been drunk in her whole life'. Hmmm, maybe we should let 64 million American Idol viewers be the judge of that:

Onto our three amigos, errr, contestants this week:

Adam, the seeming 'it' boy of Idol this year has gotten himself a cover on Entertainment Weekly, in which he seems oddly uncomfortable standing there smiling for a photo shoot for a guy who sure isn't uncomfortable on stage in front of millions of people each week:

Adam should focus on what works for him this week: embracing the musical theatre side of his personality, eye liner galore and odd hair styles included. What Adam needs to watch out for is his tendency to cross over into the land of scary and odd stage antics that is usually prefaced by his loud shrilling. I'm a firm believer that this is no one's favorite Adam, and I think we have all earned the right to request that we get the last three performances from 'Gentle Adam'. We think Boy George's 'Do you really want to hurt me' would be ace for him this week. No doubt 'George' is a role model in fashion flamboyance for our Adam. Extra bonus points if he tears up at any point during the song.

Pretty-boy Kris needs to take Simon's early-season suggestion of denouncing his wife and tell America he got divorced over the weekend, is happily healed from this event, and is actively single. No doubt this will stoke the flames of love in millions of 15 year old girls who have been barely able to make it out of bed since David Archeluta lost the finals last year. This sad posse can be found commiserating here. Kidding aside, Kris needs to get the bongos and guitar out and sing himself a little Dave Matthews or John Mayer. We think a bongo-infused version of Mayer's 'Your Body is a Wonderland' will make the ladies weep, and reach for their cell phones to vote.

All-American Danny might still have an advantage in the hearts of American because of the tragic loss of his wife. It's an unfortunate route to the sympathy vote, but he's going to need a bag of tricks to get into the finals without the tweeny-boppers' vote behind him. We are thinking a funkier version (is that even possible?) of Lionel Richie's 'All Night Long' would be a grand choice for Danny. Not only can he do something with a church choir in the background to fill up the stage (and who doesn't love a church choir?), but he can attempt to "work da party all night long" and dance in his goofy and endearing way that America seems to so love. I'm beginning to think this is the face of Danny's vote and I think she might just like his choice of Lionel this week.

In summary, I can hardly wait for this week's performances from our remaining three contestants. I'd be lying if I didn't admit I'm secretly hoping that the stress of this week's reports on Paula's drug use might just make her hit the bottle/pills/insert drug form of choice a little harder than normal which is sure to make for great TV. I live for the day she wobbles right off that chair she precariously balances on each week and onto a poor unsuspecting audience member. That would be a show to remember.....

American Idol Viewer's Guide - Rock n' Roll!

THE GOLDEN FOUR!

As we move in to the top four this week. Let us not forget the original top four American Idols from the 80’s, The Golden Girls.

We hope that Adam is taking a break from practicing whatever Axel Rose number he is obsessing over, and does a memorial cabaret review for Bea Arthur as good ol’ Maude himself. Adam would make the perfect Dorothy and look amazing in the long jacket and shoulder pads.

Danny, as the safe and reliable Sophia with the classic trademark glasses.

Kris, as the oversexed and hot-to-trot Blanche. Although Kris is happily married and a committed relationship, Idol fans do secretly wish he would dump the young wife and become available to the masses.

AND… Allison as the adorable and impressionable Rose. The misunderstood big mouth with the heart of gold.

Just like in the 80’s when that dynamic quartet got us through acid wash jeans and the Reagan years, Our idols, will give us a couple hours break from Swine Flu and Craigslist Killers.

We love you Idol...

American Idol Viewer's Guide - Rat Pack!

In a moment of utter confusion, Danny sings "Don't You (Forget About Me)", Adam sings "St. Elmo's Fire (Man in Motion)", and Matt sings "If You Leave" while Allison sings "Chicago" and Kris sings "Birth of the Blues".

The night would be complete if the 5 finalists did this and Seacrest stood in as Carson.

You know those cigars you’ve been saving for a special occasion? Well light ‘em up, baby. It’s Rat Pack Standards week on AI and we’re down to the top 5! Just what the kids want, right? Songs by a bunch of dead guys... and we’re not talking Tupac and Biggie here. But all that aside, I think this week has the potential to seriously kick ass. With Lil and Noop Dog gone, American Idol voters have paved the way for a night of solid performances. The competition is stiff at this point, so let’s take a moment to talk about what these folks need to do to take it all the way.

Allison: Assuming that the majority of AI voters are either (a) female tweens, (b) a cappella singers and/or theater majors, and (c) geriatrics, Allison doesn’t stand a chance. Sure, she can sing the song book as they say, but she’s got that crazy red hair and those outfits. It doesn’t bode well.

Matt: Has anyone else noticed that mole on his forehead? That’s got to go if he’s going to even make it to next week. But hey, it worked out for Enrique Iglesias, so you never know.

Adam: Adam needs to continue being Adam because the judges love him. If he went over the top and sang something like “My Way,” I’d be all over it… as would America.

Danny: Danny needs to pray that Adam screws up.

Kris: Kris needs a divorce (to appeal to that female tween crowd). Oh, and have you noticed how he sings out of the side of his mouth like Mr. Ed? That’s got to stop too.

Want to know what’s going to take this week into the stratosphere of kick assness? Taylor Hicks. That’s right, the Soul Patrol himself will be performing his single “The Ford Commercial”… I mean, “Seven Mile Breakdown.” Surely you’ve heard it.

If only Allsion, Matt, Adam, Danny, and Kris took the stage for an hour, cracked inappropriate racist jokes while pretending to be drunk, and sang for about 5% of the show. I mean, the only song you get out of this 10 minute clip is a rousing rendition of "Happy Birthday".

American Idol VIewer's Guide - Disco!

I can’t actually remember whether Idol has done Disco week before, but I know another Fox average-joe-becomes-famous-performer-by-America’s-televoting show that has a Disco week. (Guesses?) I think it’s safe to say that in either show, it is the “Ugh” heard round the world.∗ It feels like an intentional effort to throw a curve-ball at contestants, though I can think of curve-balls that would be much more enjoyable from an audience perspective. Like how about “Songs from the High School Musical Franchise”? This would easily provide the best group song of Idol history:

And this might give Danny the opportunity to show another side, but still display that raw emotion Paula loves:

Or how about “Songs of Social Change”? Every contestant would have to pick a song from anytime in history that had a social message. Right up Fox’s alley! Think about how hard Adam could rock on this song:

This biggest problem with a week like Disco, is that someone like Allison (who is completely amazing), might kind of suck. And now the Idol judges have used their one precious gift of life on Matt, so if someone like Allison gets voted off this week they have no one to blame but themselves. Brutal.

I’m not going to lie, I know next to nothing about Disco. I feel like I’ve learned everything I need to know by watching this video:

(And yes, the chorus of the song at the end is something like, “Trippy, trippy, Moscow, Moscow.”)

In light of that, I’m not going to bother guess what people are going to sing. Instead, I’ve asked my Magic 8 Ball (mine’s a little dusty – I used this one) for some predictions for this week’s show:

(Please note, the results of these questions have not been altered in any way – they were this amazing on their own.)

1. Will Allison get kicked off Idol this week? “My sources say no.”
2. Will the judges regret keeping Matt? “My sources say no.”
3. Do you say anything else besides ‘my sources say no’? “Yes”
4. Will Lil rock out to a big Donna Summers number? “Definitely”
5. Will Kris attempt to make a disco song singer-songwritery by playing his guitar? “Absolutely!”
6. Are the judges going to run over in time AGAIN? “Outlook not so good.”

Well, you heard it here, folks. Set your digital recorders to record 10 min later, cozy up with your pet rock and enjoy the amazing week of Disco fun!

∗Disclaimer: None of the content of this week’s blog entry that references disco music sucking is meant to offend KC of KC and the Sunshine Band, who is all of the following three things:
1. The guest judge this week
2. The co-writer of my favorite song to dance to at a wedding
3. AND the boyfriend of a friend of a member of the Idol Pool!!!!

Idol Pool Week 6 Links

I dreamed a dream that Bryan Adams songs would never be sung on Idol again....unless it was the Summer of 69.

This is Glen Hansard, Marketa Irglova and The Frames (among other things, they are the music behind the movie "Once", which Kris' song "Falling Slowly" is from). Sadly, Glen and Marketa are no longer a couple, so I think their days of making sweet sweet music together are over. The Frames are still around though.

Zac Efron's hot

Simon think Adam sings as if he belongs here

The top 7 should have all been wearing legwarmers while running in place tonight. And I would have paid top dollar to see somebody get the wet chair treatment.

American Idol Viewer's Guide - Songs of Cinema

Kris Allen stars in "All cute Jesus loving shirtless forgettable dogs go to Heaven".

I feel as if these past few weeks I've wanted to say a little prayer that the Idols would take on famous songs from the movies. My prayers have been answered! I mean, what a feeling it must be to be footloose and fancy free on the stage with some amazing songs to choose from. It would certainly take my breath away to know that somewhere out there is a song that would help me achieve the fame I know I deserve.

Now that the beauty & the beast, Megan Joy and Scott McIntyre, have been given the boot, the final 7 contestants are sure to put their heart and soul into each and every performance. With Scott's departure, Danny Gokey wrote Idol Pool Headquarters with this fantastik quote:

Scott, I just want to thank you for the memories that we created. Although we'll never be the way we were, exactly, I know that the American Idol summer tour will reunite all of us and we'll all be up where we belong -- on the stage!

There has been a lot of discussion about Adam Lambert's chances of winning this whole thing. His critics believe that his voice isn't right for this type of competition, but better on broadway. I disagree -- I like the way he gives the camera the look of love. And that voice! All I know is that I will follow him anywhere. When it comes to Adam, will his endless love be a man or woman? Call me irresponsible for injecting my own personal opinion, but I think I speak for everyone when I say, "Let's hear it for the boys!"

As time goes by, I get more and more excited about Alison. I feel as if she's been given the shaft over the weeks when she ends up in the Bottom 3. I mean, who cares about the way you look tonight? The competition isn't about fashion. You are consistently strong and when it comes to a power ballad, nobody does it better. One thing's for sure, whenever you finish a song, I look at Debbie the Intern and exclaim, "now THAT'S entertainment!"

And I'm sort of over Danny Gokey's heart and soul. I mean, could this guy get any cheesier? He can sing, sure, but sometimes I just want to put down my food and throw my chopsticks at the TV. Isn't it romantic when I put this great song to a Jamaican beat, you ask? My answer: no. Unless you stick to old time rock and roll, you won't get to those final rounds.

Oh, Lil, how you disappoint. What's up with all that jazz about how you've got that big old voice and can sing endlessly? I think you're overrated. My friend, Alfie, really wants you to win, but I just don't think it is in the cards. With Lil's placement in the bottom 3 last week, no one here at AIPH is sure how long she'll be staying alive. Que sera, sera, sister...

Although I could have danced all night to Matt Giraud's performance last week, and I believe it when he says "I got rhythm", I just think that his inconsistency will come to plague him in the next few weeks. One of my favorite things about Matt is his strength in certain songs, but whenever he gets too contemporary, he loses me. Stormy weather is moving your way, buddy...

I wouldn't want to rain on anyone's parade, but is Kris Allen not the most forgettable person of this season? I almost forgot to put him in this week's post! I'll probably fight the power of the young teenage girl voting demographic, but I think Kris is a little less sunrise and a little more sunset each week. Still, I'm sure every week Kris is thanking heaven for little girls and their ability to text.

Everybody's talkin' in our pool about how they hope that Anoop goes home this week. Anoop, I will always love you for your sweet ballads, but R&B just simply isn't working for you. And when you're doing those ballads, try not to let your eyeballs roll back into your head - it makes it seem as if you lose yourself everytime you sing slowly. I hope you ain't too proud to beg for some votes, Noop-Dog.

I've had the time of my life writing this week's post. Come what may, this is bound to be a tremendous week for the competition. Will it be an enchanted evening for some? Tonight, somewhere in America, a young child will hear the sound of music and pick up the phone to dial and vote. Will it be you?

American Idol Viewer's Guide - Birth Year Songs!

As you might have heard Seacrest say on Wednesday night, this week's theme is Songs from the Year You Were Born! Here at American Idol HQ, we have two thoughts about this theme:

1. One of the finalists was born in the year 1992?!

2. As the show gets older and the contestants don't, you realize that the years these contestants were born were years that produced some incredible or horrible music depending on your cheese factor.

I mean, when this theme was done a couple years ago, it seemed like everyone was born between 1977 & 1980. That's no longer the case -

Did you enjoy your years in college going out to bars where "Come On Eileen" was played non-stop? Then you're going to love this week's show!!! It's the early to mid-80s all over the place!!!

Using the top 100 songs from each year, and assuming the producers have cleared every single one of those songs for the show on Wednesday, here are my thoughts about who's doing what:

1. Old Man Danny Gokey - Born 1980

Ah, 1980. The year of the Miracle on Ice, the release of Empire Strikes Back, the murder of John Lennon, and the election of Ronald Reagan.

Classic 80s songs from 1980 include Escape (Pina Colada Song), All Out of Love, Fame, and Funkytown.

1. I Would Seriously Pick Up the Phone and Vote for Danny if he sings: Coward Of The County. Nothing beats this Kenny Rogers classic about Tommy, the boy who was taught by his father to turn the other cheek throughout his whole life until the one day that the Gatlin Boys have their way with his girl. Tommy locks the door of the barroom and beats the living daylights out of those boys. The moral of the story? Sometimes you have to fight to prove you're a man. It's a perfect song for a church's music director.

Dark Horse Candidate: Rock With You. Danny has repeatedly said Michael Jackson is his favorite male artist.

I'm betting he does: Against the Wind.
Last week I told you the guy would be perfect for Huey Lewis week. Bob Seger falls right into that category, too. Plus, the first two verses are about a man who loved a woman who left him. The singer wishes he didn't know now what he didn't know then. They were running against the wind. Come on!

Strip the song down to just the piano, slow the tempo down, and I bet you Paula will be weeping.

2. Front Runner Adam Lambert - 1982

Ricky Minor & the band is on the field! 1982 also gave us the Falkands War, the release of the Thriller album, and, in an instance of history repeating, the US recession.

Classic 80s songs from 1982 include Physical, Eye of the Tiger, Rosanna, 867-5309, I Ran, I Love Rock N'Roll, Ebony & Ivory, Centerfold and more. 1982 rocked!

I Would Seriously Pick Up the Phone and Vote for Adam if he sings: The Theme Song from Chariots of Fire. Firstly, it's the best sports movie ever, and I would vote for Adam solely because he would obviously be recognizing that by singing it. Secondly, it would take guts to sing a song with no words in it. If he ran in place in slow motion the whole time, I would vote for Adam a bazillion times.

Dark Horse Candidate: Gloria. The song rocks, and Adam would destroy "if everybody wants you, why isn't anybody calling".

I'm betting he does: Either Open Arms or Don't Stop Believin'. I'd lean towards Open Arms since the group lip synched Don't Stop Believin' last week. Adam has a Steve Perry voice. He could nail this song.

3. What is going on with Lil Rounds - 1984

Lil Rounds needs a Ronald Reagan moment right about now.

1984 - The birth of the Mac, the LA Summer Olympics, Reagan beats Mondale, and the crack epidemic is born in LA.

Classic 80s songs from 1984 include Footloose, Girls Just Want To Have Fun, 99 Luftballoons, Sunglasses at Night, Sister Christian, and Cruel Summer.

I Would Seriously Pick Up the Phone and Vote for Lil if she sings: Ghostbusters. At this point, I think we're all hoping Lil is being possesed by Zul and is just waiting for the keymaster to turn her into the monster singer she should be.

Dark Horse Candidate: Against All Odds. This song has been sung by a few people from past American Idol seasons like disappointing Ramiele, hideously ugly Scott Savol, producer marrying Katharine McPhee, Wild Card George Huff, Paula Abdul lover Corey Clark, and law breaker Jessica Sierra. So, I guess you could say it's a staple. I know the judges told her to youthen it up, but she loves the big cheesy songs.

I'm betting she does: What's Love Got To Do With It. Thankfully for Lil, there were some powerful women singers who topped the charts in 1984. And we all know Lil likes to cover signature songs. Tina Turner + big signature song with a big chorus = perfect choice for her (in her mind).

4, 5 & 6. 1985 - the year almost all of the remaining contestants (Scott, Matt & Kris) were born

If I had my druthers, these three would pool their time and agree to do this song in it's entirety as a trio. You have a MJ imitator, a Kenny Loggins clone, and Ray Charles/Stevie Wonder stand-in. It'd be perfect!

1985 also gave us the birth of WrestleMania, New Coke, Nintendo, and the Windows Operating System.

Classic 80s songs from 1985 include Take On Me, We Built This City, Shout, Material Girl, and Private Dancer.

I Would Seriously Pick Up the Phone and Vote for Scott if he sings: Like A Virgin. No brainer folks.

Dark Horse Candidate: Nightshift. It's just the perfect mid-tempo, semi-challenging song that Scott loves. The only problem is that it's not really a piano-based song.

I'm betting he does: Careless Whisper. Same as above, but the melody is so much better, and that hook can be played on the piano. I know because I've seen Ben Folds play it on the piano in a duet with Rufus Wainwright.

I Would Seriously Pick Up the Phone and Vote for Matt if he sings: One Night in Bangkok. It's poppy, mildly racist, and there's a horrible spoken word that references Yul Brenner, et cetera, et cetera, et cetera, 1 2 3 and.

Dark Horse Candidate: Don't You Forget About Me. The guy likes to sing pop even though he sucks at it. This is about as poppy as you get. He'd be gone in a heartbeat if he decides on this one.

I'm betting he does: Part-Time Lover. Matt can do some Stevie. Just put some runs in there, and cross your fingers that it comes across OK. Plus, it would be an homage to his imaginary gf, Megan.

I Would Seriously Pick Up the Phone and Vote for Kris if he sings: Everybody Wants to Rule the World. This one's actually not a joke. The song is incredible, and Kris has the right kind of voice for it.

Dark Horse Candidate: We Belong. It's a great song that someone like Kris could make original. Randy loves it when guys sing girls songs and vice versa. And, it has a refrain that would be right in Kris' sweet spot vocally.

I'm betting he does: Heaven. It's cheesy, we all know it, and he could spin it in his smooth operator style to make it original.

7. 1986 - Anoop Dogg

Anoop....*sniff*....you stink.
In addition to shirtless volleyball, 1986 gave us memorable events like the Reagan/Gorbachev summit and the Fridge rapping, but no single event was bigger than a certain ground ball rolling through a certain 1B's legs on a certain October night.

1986 also gave us such 80s classics as Greatest Love of All, Dancing on the Ceiling, Manic Monday, and Eddie Murphy's Party All the Time.

I Would Seriously Pick Up the Phone and Vote for Anoop if he sings: Your Love. Seriously. I just don't know if he has the voice for it. Plus, it's not R&B, and for some reason he wants to be a R&B artist.

Dark Horse Candidate: These Dreams. He likes the slow tempo stuff, and this is another example of a cross-over gender song that could go over well. I just don't know if he has the voice for it. Plus, it's not R&B, and for some reason he wants to be a R&B artist.

I'm betting he does: Life In A Northern Town. He does have the voice for it. It's just slow enough for him. The final refrain could be done a capella, and he would eat that up. And, we all love Nick Drake tributes. I'm just not sure if the chorus works since there really aren't words in it. Plus, it's not R&B, and for some reason he wants to be a R&B artist.

8. 1992 - Allison "Who Am I" Iraheta

I know why Allison is here, but I still don't quite know who she is.

I just had to throw that one in there, too.

1992 brought us Bush puking on the Japanese PM, Amy Fisher shooting Mary Jo Buttafuoco, Dan Quayle misspelling words, Pope John Paul apologizing to Galileo, and Bill Clinton becoming the 42nd President.

I Would Seriously Pick Up the Phone and Vote for Allison if she sings: November Rain. She loves the rock music, and this one's an epic....I'd vote for her a bazillion times if she took the stage wearing this.

I'd vote for her 2 bazillion times if Stephanie Seymour takes the stage wearing it instead.

Dark Horse Candidate: One - the Mary J. Blige version. She's got the voice for it, and it's been done on Idol before.

I'm betting she does: I Can't Make You Love Me. The song has been covered by American Idol artists like Carrie Underwood and Adam Lambert. It would be a great change of pace for her while still showing off her pipes.

What do you all think?

Idol Pool Standings Week 4

Just a very hot small town girl who is now taking the midnight train goin' anywhere but American Idol-land.

Someone other than Megan will win. Unskilled singers like Megan will lose. She was never born to sing the blues.

Why did she act like a chicken while moving to the bottom 3?

Now that Michael Sarver has finally gotten the boot (possibly NSFW), it's time to turn our attention to iTunes Top 100 week! Unfortunately, your Idol Pool Master doesn't listen to music that isn't recorded by past or present American Idol contestants. That means that except for Carrie Underwood's two songs on the Top 100 (I Told You So and Home Sweet Home) and Kelly Clarkson's My Life Would Suck Without You (which Allison would be crazy not to sing) I really don't have much to say about this week's choices.

That leaves me time to test out a theory that I've been trying out lately. Reading through the blog and talking to our interns here at Idol Headquarters, I've come to believe that there are only three types of people in the world: Danny Gorkey people, Adam Lambert people, and Megan Corkery people. That's it. Don't get me wrong. I know there are more Lil fans than Megan fans out there. For that matter, there were more Alexis fans than Megan fans. But give me a break: Lil is a poor man's LaToya London, and LaToya was only the THIRD best singer in her year. And after "Jolene", I hardly think that any Alexis Grace fans are going to write in to say that there are actually four types of people in the world. Danny, Adam, and Megan are the only three this year who are different enough to be not only contestants, but lifestyle choices.

Now being a Danny, Adam, or Megan person involves more than being a fan. It doesn't even require that you picked them to win. It's more like being a cat person, or a Sagittarius. It's a way of life.

So which are you? To figure that out, our research department has developed the following quiz. The instructions are easy: for each of the following questions, pick the answer that best fits you and keep track of your answers!

1. If I were to visit New York City, I would want to go to:
A) a Broadway show
B) a concert in Williamsburg or the Lower East Side
C) Ground Zero

2. Can't Help Lovin' Dat Man of Mine is:
A) A Hammerstein/Kern classic
B) One of Bjork's best covers
C) spelled wrong

3. Megan Joy Corkery:
A) took "For Once in My Life" too fast
B) has rocket boobs
C) has overcome obstacles as a single mom

4. I dislike this singer/group the most:
A) James Taylor
B) Celine Dion
C) Abba

5. My dream vacation would be to:
A) Ibiza
B) Canada
C) Disneyworld

6. Adam Lambert is:
A) creative
B) crazy
C) scary

7. My favorite movie is:
A) Gone with the Wind
B) Juno
C) Titanic

8. How often do you go to gay bars?
A) There are other types of bars?
B) Occasionally, when a friend of mine is going to one.
C) Never. But I might be a little curious.

9. Danny Gokey is:
A) good in his upper register
B) predictable at times
C) going to rock Huey Lewis week

10. Ideal evening:
A) Concert and late-night diner run
B) Bike ride (motor or dirt)
C) Babysitting nephews/nieces

If you haven't figured out the scoring system already, it's easy: just total up the number of A's, B's, and C's you have. If you have mostly A's, you're an Adamite. B's you're a Corkerian. C's you're Dannish. Congratulations! And be sure to tell us your type in the comments section!

Contrary to conventional wisdom, the life preserver proves that Seacrest is Dannish.

There's no doubt Paula's an Adamite.

I have no idea what this picture says about where Randy Jackson would fall into the 3 categories. However, I do know this - he has problems reading the number '6'.
