Idol Pool Week 6 Links

I dreamed a dream that Bryan Adams songs would never be sung on Idol again....unless it was the Summer of 69.

This is Glen Hansard, Marketa Irglova and The Frames (among other things, they are the music behind the movie "Once", which Kris' song "Falling Slowly" is from). Sadly, Glen and Marketa are no longer a couple, so I think their days of making sweet sweet music together are over. The Frames are still around though.

Zac Efron's hot

Simon think Adam sings as if he belongs here

The top 7 should have all been wearing legwarmers while running in place tonight. And I would have paid top dollar to see somebody get the wet chair treatment.

there is an american idol GOD!!! i thought i was going to be left to listen to adam scream and stick his tongue out, danny sing depressing songs every week for the pity vote, and lil continue to make poor decisions.

but alas, the idol gods made one great decision this season and saved matt!! i think he deserves to be in the top 5 at the very least and i think they made the right decision. (doesn't hurt i have him to win)

and to answer the 'once' questions about last night - one of the greatest movies of all time. the soundtrack is phenomenal. it might make you judge kris's performance a bit more critically though. for me that song can't be copied.

Lil should have gone...they were right to save him....he could make a legitimate album...she could not! And,on a stinking personal note, I have her higher than Matt in my picks! I'm just going to drink wine! I have lost!!!

They were running out of ep's to use their save, so this appeared to be as good a time as any. Good call. Although I originally ranked Lil higher, I definitely think she should go next, based on her recent performances. And if America really wants Matt gone, he'll still go next anyway. Actually, I think they'll both go next week, which'd be fine, despite the fact that it'll cost me.

I thought this week's group song had a reasonable blend of lip-sync (backing vocals?) and live singing (solos), and the soloists still sounded fairly decent.

This is the point in the competition when I get bored. We all know who the top three or four are....it just takes so long to get there. Disco next week...oh, this could be ugly!! IPM, can't wait to see your predicitions on this genre.

It's going to be Adam and Kris as the final two. Adam is the loud, popular guy who everyone is watching in the high school cafeteria while Kris pulls the sensitive act to quietly steal your girlfriend. That song from once was the only interesting choice of the night and I now have mad love for Kris.

I'm sorry, Suzy, but Adam would definitely NOT be the "popular guy" at my high school --except perhaps in the microcosm of the Drama Club (to which I admittedly belonged). Then again, I grew up in Maine...

How's this for a prediction for Adam's song choice for next week?

I can hardly believe my old a cappella group is still using my ancient arrangement of that classic ;-)

American Idol is the glorification of the Drama Club (which is why we all love it so much) and Adam is the King. If we were all sitting at the lunch table with him right now, everyone would be laughing too loud at his lame jokes.

Disco Week Possibilities:
Adam "Car Wash" (backup, "Do You Think I'm Sexy");
Allison "Knock On Wood" (backup, "Don't Leave Me This Way");
Lil "Macarthur Park" (backup, "I Will Survive");
Kris "December, 1963 (Oh, What a Night)";
Danny "Celebration";
Matt "Working My Way Back To You";
Anoop "Disco Inferno";
Michael "YMCA"; (backup, "Macho Man")

OK, maybe not that last one... But someone always chooses to mangle Macarthur Park, so that one's in the bag :) And in thinking about the song choices, I'm not sure Anoop can survive this week.

I'm hoping that Lil sings "Don't Leave Me This Way." That is my all time favorite disco song and she is the only one who could do it justice.
