Ties are broken this way - if two entries are tied, the entry that has guessed the highest contestant correctly wins the tie. If both entries had the same highest correct guessed contestant, the entry with the next highest correctly guessed contestant would win the tie.
If there were ties, I listed all of the correctly guessed contestants for both entries. For example:

55. Amy L-P. - 239 pts. (none)
These three contestants finished with 239 points, but Marybeth wins the tiebreaker because she had Allison 4th, and that is better than the best guess Lauren and Amy Larsen Pond had. Lauren finishes 54th because she had Michael 10th, and Amy finishes 55th because she didn't guess anyone correctly.

Idol is dead to me.
Overall, a fairly enjoyable --if not somewhat bizarre-- finale. Pairing Adam with Kiss (and Queen) was dead on --and speaks to how "current" that style is. But Adam will have a great career, nonetheless, I'm sure. Kris sounded better than Keith Urban on his own song, so he's got some skillz, too. Enjoyed Gokey's cheese-fest w/Lionel, which was another apropos pairing. Expected to see Bruce Hornsby sing with Scott next, but didn't miss that horror show. Could've done without Steve Martin's new bluegrass song, as the punch line never came. Glad they lowered the key of Kara's song for Kris, so it sucked a little less.
Oh, I'm heartbroken Adam didn't win...can you imagine how he feels? Please tell me (EVERYONE) that he will have a huge career anyway! I think Kris is a great guy, but an American Idol? We'll see. America has spoken....but then, they spoke for Tayor Hicks, too! Rock On, Adam!
Anonymous: I truly feel that coming in second was the best thing that could have ever happened to Adam. His career is his own now and his fantastic inidividuality will not be corrupted by the American Idol Machine. He is a real star and his fan base is unparalleled. What past American Idol contestant has graced the cover of Entertainment Weekly by himself? He only lost because of the Gokey base, which means nothing post-Idol.
I thought it was a great show-- (the bikini girl skit was hysterical)...I could have done without Tatiana-she wasn't good in the beginning and she was worse last night...the fact that she mad eit through really makes me question the judges ability to judge. Kara had to take it all off to try to save her job for next season but it was entertaining. Thanks for the pool IPM I have enjoyed reading the blog and being a part of the pool! Hope to do better next year with my choices...

Yes, thanks IPM...this pool may have turned me into an obsessed nutball who was texting people from my honeymoon to find out who was kicked off and where I was in the standings. But: totally worth it.
